Phil Thompson: This Liverpool star is the definition of a Jurgen Klopp player
Former Liverpool captain Phil Thompson says Adam Lallana is the embodiment of a Jurgen Klopp player
Phil Thompson says Adam Lallana embodies the attributes that the Liverpool manager wants his players to have.
The Reds midfielder has been a mainstay of the 49-year-old’s Liverpool side after the former Borussia Dortmund head coach took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season outside of the European places as Lallana scored seven times in 49 games in the English top flight, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
The England man’s seven goals represented his best return as a Liverpool player since his move to Anfield in a £25m deal from Southampton in 2014.
Former Liverpool captain Thompson explains why he is a huge fan of the 28-year-old midfielder, adding that Lallana has the attributes of a Klopp player.
“I’m a big fan of his and I was shocked that he missed out on England’s final game at the Euros because he was one of our better players. He’s everything Jurgen Klopp wants in his players,” Thompson told Sky Sports.
Lallana scored his first goal of the season in a 4-3 victory at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this month.
