Jack Wilshere posts a picture of himself at toy shop Hamleys after Arsenal's loss to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday
Jack Wilshere appeared determined not to let Arsenal’s disappointing Champions League defeat by Borussia Dortmund get him down as he posted a picture of himself shopping at Hamleys on Wednesday afternoon.
The 22-year-old midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Arsene Wenger’s side slumped to a poor 2-0 defeat by the Bundesliga side in their Group D opener on Tuesday night.
Wilshere was taking some time out to buy gifts for his two children, Archie and Delalah, ahead of their forthcoming birthdays.
Although it is unclear when he made the actual trip to the Regent Street toy shop, the midfielder posted the picture above on Instagram on Wednesday and wrote: “Trip to Hamleys for Archie and Delilah’s birthday! 1 and 3 next week, can’t believe it #GettingOld”
Wilshere admitted that the manner of Tuesday’s defeat in Germany should serve as a wake-up call for the Gunners.
“It was disappointing against Dortmund,” said Wilshere. “They are a good team and we have got to be a bit smarter when we come to places like this.
“With their game-plan, they wanted to press us high up the pitch and we let them do it in the first half.
“We started the second half quite brightly in the first couple of minutes and then unfortunately it was the same thing again on the counter attack and then the game is over.”
