John Terry has hailed the “unbelievable” reception given to Frank Lampard by Chelsea’s travelling fans at Manchester City on Sunday.
The veteran midfielder returned to haunt his former club by scoring the equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Etihad Stadium after Andre Schurrle’s opener.
And Chelsea captain Terry was quick to pay tribute to Lampard, who spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge before leaving the club in the summer and joining City on loan.
Terry posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “It felt strange playing against Lamps today and seeing him in a Man City shirt.
“Unbelievable reception the Chelsea fans gave to a true Legend today that has Chelsea in is heart forever, I really hope Lamps gets the opportunity to receive that reception at the Bridge one day.
“Good point today that keeps us 3 points clear at the top of the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard was quick to pay tribute to goal-scorer Schurrle.
The Belgian posted the picture below and wrote: “Great goal my friend @andreschuerrle … Thanks for the support.”
