Michael Owen is optimistic that Liverpool FC can secure a positive result at Paris Saint-Germain in their next Champions League game at the end of November.

The Reds had the chance to move three points clear of second-placed Napoli on Tuesday night when Liverpool FC took on Red Star Belgrade in their early kick-off.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were resounding 4-0 winners against Red Star Belgrade at Anfield last month to hoist themselves to the top of the group.

However, the Serbian side proved a different proposition in Belgrade and Klopp’s men were comprehensively beaten to leave them in a perilous position in the group.

Fortunately for the Merseyside outfit, Napoli netted a second-half equaliser through Lorenzo Insigne to secure a 1-1 draw with PSG and leave Liverpool FC top of the standings thanks to goal difference.

However, the Reds will face a difficult trip to PSG on Wednesday 28 November before Liverpool FC welcome Napoli to Anfield in what promises to be an awkward conclusion to the group stage.

But former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes an attacking-minded PSG could play into Klopp’s hands at Parc des Princes given the Reds’ ability to cause destruction on the break.

“I think so (the way PSG set up will play into Liverpool’s hands),” Owen told BT Sport on Tuesday night.

“I think Liverpool playing against better teams over the last period of time, last five-10 years, Liverpool play well against the better teams.

“They almost suit them, they come out to play, Liverpool can nick the ball back in dangerous areas and go and attack.

“Breaking down teams, obviously [Philippe] Coutinho has long gone now, but he had that little bit of guile to break a team down that sat back.

“Liverpool have got pace in their team but if a team sits back, you need a little bit of imagination. I think it just makes it easier against those better teams.

“Liverpool need one big result from the last two games now.”

Liverpool FC were 3-2 winners against PSG in their opening Champions League fixture after Roberto Firmino scored an added time winner at Anfield.

The Reds had stormed in a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge and James Milner before Thomas Meuneir and Kylian Mbappe levelled.

The Merseyside outfit lost 1-0 to Napoli in their second group-stage fixture before a 4-0 home win over Red Star.

Liverpool FC will switch their focus back to the Premier League this weekend when the Reds welcome Fulham to Anfield on Sunday lunchtime.
