QPR 0 Norwich 0: Harry Redknapp says his Hoops side "gave everything" in search of a victory after a stalemate at Loftus Road
Harry Redknapp insisted Queens Park Rangers “gave everything” in an attempt to beat Norwich City after the Hoops were held to a stalemate at Loftus Road.
The Morocco international was the best player of a tight first half, with the QPR playmaker regularly picking the ball up on the edge of Norwich’s area and looking to test Mark Bunn.
However, Taarabt’s best chance came when the Canaries goalkeeper finally put a foot wrong, bringing down Hoops striker Jamie Mackie in his penalty area in the 56th minute.
But Norwich shot stopper redeemed himself with a save to deny Taarabt his fifth Premier League goal of the season, with Redknapp’s side staying bottom of the table after the draw.
“I couldn’t have asked for more. We just needed a break,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“They gave everything. We just need to turn draws into wins and you don’t get a better opportunity than we had today.
“We’re unbeaten since the turn of the year so we’ve just got to keep going.”
Chris Samba, who joined in a £12.5m deal from Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday, admitted QPR were disappointed to only draw with Norwich.
“I’m obviously satisfied with the clean sheet, but very, very disappointed with the draw,” added Samba.
“For us there was nothing for it but a win to be back with the pack. We’re really disappointed.
“We played very well, so we hope that will be enough to remain in the league.
“I think we’d done enough to win the game and we’ve been unfortunate with the penalty.”
