Esteban Granero insists Mark Hughes is “the best manager” Queens Park Rangers could have despite the Hoops continuing their winless start to the Premier League campaign at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

QPR suffered a 3-2 defeat at the Hawthorns to leave the west London club rooted to the bottom of the table, with Hughes’ men conceding 16 goals in just seven games.

Granero, who joined from Real Madrid in August, blamed the QPR squad for their current run of disappointing results, insisting the players are fully behind the Welshman.

“We’re the ones who have to improve because the manager is great,” Granero said.

“We all support the manager. We know he’s the best manager we can possibly have.

“Most of the losses, for sure, are not his fault. It is our fault – the footballers’ fault.

“Last week against West Ham he told us all what was going to happen and it happened – just as he said. We were warned so it was our fault, the people who were on the pitch.”

QPR have conceded four goals in the opening 20 minutes of their last three matches, and Granero insisted the Hoops must improve their concentration at the start of games.

“In the last games, we have conceded goals at the beginning and after that it is very difficult to come back against English clubs,” he added.

“We all have to be more focused and not concede early. I’m sure we can play much better if we’re not losing from the start.”
