QPR’s Harry Redknapp says Loic Remy ‘touch and go’ to face Swansea

Harry Redknapp says Loic Remy is “touch and go” to feature in Queens Park Rangers’ must-win clash against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

The France international missed QPR’s goalless draw with Norwich City at Loftus Road last weekend due to a groin injury which the striker picked up in training.

The former Marseille man has impressed for the Hoops since completing his £8m move from L’Om to the west London side, scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

But with key games on the horizon against their relegation rivals, Redknapp admits he is reluctant to risk Remy in case the forward’s condition should worsen.

“I am not sure about Loic Remy,” said Redknapp. “We’ll have a look at him and it is sort of touch and go.

“He did his groin as it was muddy out there. He went to play a ball, stretched, and felt his groin tweak. We weren’t sure how bad it was but it is not that bad.

“The doctor said all along he felt it was only a minor injury, so he has got a chance for tomorrow but, if he is not sure he is OK, I wouldn’t take a chance.

“With injuries like that, you can go and lose somebody for five or six weeks if they tear it so, unless he feels very confident about it, I wouldn’t risk him.

“I don’t think I can afford to do that because he could put himself out for quite a while.”
