QPR have missed Joey Barton this season, admits Shaun Derry
QPR midfielder Shaun Derry believes the Hoops have missed Joey Barton this season after he joined Marseille on loan in August

Shaun Derry believes Queens Park Rangers have missed controversial midfielder Joey Barton this season.
The 30-year-old moved to Marseille on a season-long loan in August after falling out of favour under former Hoops manager Mark Hughes.
The former Newcastle United captain has scored once in 21 appearances as third-placed l’OM look to catch Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 title race.
Meanwhile, QPR are seven points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League, and Derry believes Barton would have been an important member of Harry Redknapp’s Hoops squad.
“There have been times this season where the guys haven’t given 100 per cent. So he’d have improved the squad,” he told the Sun.
Meanwhile, Andros Townsend, who has scored twice since moving on loan to QPR from Tottenham, is hoping his club form can help him secure a place in England’s squad for this summer’s European Under-21 championship.
“If I’m honest I’m not even thinking ahead to the Euros this summer,” he told QPR’s website.
“My focus is on QPR and keeping this club in the Premier League.
“If I keep performing well for QPR then hopefully an England call-up this summer will come hand in hand, but my main focus in on the remaining eight games and winning matches for this club.”
