Forest’s new manager Alex McLeish was reported to be keen to sign the England international on a possible loan deal, while there was also talk of Green handing in a transfer request.

When the 32-year-old was signed by Mark Hughes in the summer, it was expected that Green would become QPR’s undisputed number one after Paddy Kenny moved to Leeds United.

But Hughes snapped up Champions League winner Júlio Cesar, dropping Green down the pecking order – a theme which has continued under Redknapp despite a brief run of games while the Brazilian recovered from a groin injury.

“No [there’s been no transfer request],” said Redknapp. “Not that I know off.

“He’s certainly not discussed that with me. That’s a new one. I don’t know anything about that.

“I’ve got two keepers and another younger lad, Murphy, behind them.

“I’ve got two top goalkeepers here. You need them if you get an injury. With our situation now, to let one go would be difficult.”

Another QPR player linked with a January exit is Alejandro Faurlín, with Serie A’s Palermo having a loan bid for the Argentinian rejected by the Hoops.

Redknapp revealed that he spoke to the midfielder earlier this week and the R’s manager wants to keep Faurlín at the club, unless he signs two or three “top, top midfielders”.

“I’m not looking to sell him,” added Redknapp.

“I like him. He’s a good footballer and a smashing boy, he’s not been any problem.

“I’ve had a chat with him this week, and unless the situation changes and I get two or three top midfielders in here, he’s very much part of my plans.”
