Harry Redknapp has confirmed that striker Djibril Cisse is set to leave Queens Park Rangers, with the France international in talks with Qatari side Al Gharafa.

The 31-year-old has found himself largely out of favour at the Hoops since Redknapp replaced Mark Hughes at Loftus Road in November.

Cisse, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, has struggled to replicate his match-winning performances of last season.

With Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora both injured, Cisse has been forced to shoulder the responsibility of scoring QPR’s goals – but the flamboyant forward has managed just four this term.

The Hoops unveiled Loic Remy at their Harlington training ground on Friday – and Redknapp confirmed that Cisse is no longer part of his plans.

“Looks like it [that Cisse is set to leave],” said Redknapp.

“I’ve not been involved in that, the chairman Tony Fernandes and chief executive Philip Beard have been involved in that.

“I don’t even know what club [he’s going to]. It will get him out playing and obviously saves us some wages for the rest of the season.”

Another player linked with a QPR exit is Jose Bosingwa, who has been sidelined with an injury since the 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic on 8 December.

The former Chelsea defender fell out with Redknapp last month after the Champions League winner expressed his disappointment at being used as a substitute.

But the QPR manager remained tight-lipped on the Portugal international’s future at Loftus Road, with the right-back close to returning to first-team training.

“The problem is that he’s not been fit to train. There’s nothing I can do,” added Redknapp.

“He’s been in the treatment room every day. He’s dying to come out on the training pitch and do a little bit.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens with him. My main concern is the players that I’ve got available for me.

“He’s got a contract here, so we’ll have to see what happens in the next week or two.”
