The Marseille striker had appeared destined to join Newcastle United after Harry Redknapp admitted the France international was not interested in a move to Loftus Road.
However, there was mounting speculation on Monday evening suggesting the Hoops manager may have landed his long-term target, leaving Alan Pardew still chasing a replacement for Demba Ba.
Barton, who is on loan at Marseille from QPR, also encouraged Tony Fernandes to back Redknapp this month.
“Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR,” tweeted Barton. “Not sure what happened at Newcastle probably Llambas again!
“Gift of the gab from Harry Redknapp perhaps? Thought it was done and dusted to Newcastle. Something must of gone amiss. Great news for #QPR.”
He added: “Just letting y’all know what I know. Heard a few other names mentioned for QPR. Looks like an all-in move from @tonyfernandes #poker.
“Redknapp is a manager that needs backing in the transfer market. Always signs good players. Look at players he brought to Spurs/Pompey etc.”
On Friday, Redknapp admitted his pursuit of Remy had been fruitless, although the 65-year-old refused to rule out all possibility of the forward moving to the Hoops.
“He didn’t want to come. Being bottom doesn’t help. If there’s other clubs in England after the same player, it can be difficult.
“I went over last week to watch Remy play – not that I needed to watch him because I had watched him about seven times at Tottenham. He didn’t want to even speak about coming.”
He added: “I wouldn’t write him off completely, but it’s going to be a difficult one.”
