QPR’s Adel Taarabt: We have to look forward and forget recent results
QPR's Adel Taarabt says the Hoops must continue to look forward in their bid to secure top-flight safety after recent disappointments
Adel Taarabt insists Queens Park Rangers must look forward in their bid to beat relegation and forget recent disappointments.
The bottom-of-the-table Hoops suffered a 3-2 loss to relegation rivals Aston Villa on Saturday, ending on impressive two-game winning run which brought the west London side to the brink of safety.
Taarabt, who scored for QPR’s reserves in a 3-1 win against West Ham on Tuesday, believes the Hoops can still secure their top-flight status with eight games remaining.
“For us we cannot look behind any more, we have to look forward and try to win the rest of the games as much as we can,” Taarabt told QPR’s website.
“We still believe. There are eight games left – 24 points to play for – so we know what we have to do and we will try to do that.”
Taarabt dropped to the bench for QPR’s victories over Southampton and Sunderland, and the Morocco international was delighted to get vital playing time under his belt against the Hammers.
“It was more important today to get some minutes so I’m pleased to have played a full 90, that was the main thing,” he added.
“We have two weeks off so for the first-team players it was really useful.
“We are looking forward to Fulham now. We know how they play, they will be confident after beating Tottenham. We have to go there and try to win.”
