Benítez’s appointment at Stamford Bridge has been met by a hostile reaction from Blues supporters as a result of his frosty relationship with the club from his time in charge at Liverpool.
The Spaniard’s side were met with chorus of boos after they squandered a two-goal lead to draw with Premier League strugglers Southampton on Wednesday.
But Benítez insists he is doing his best and has told fans that “we must win together”.
“The main thing always is that we have to do our best from the beginning,” said the Chelsea interim boss.
“My message is the same: we have to win together. Hopefully we can start against Arsenal.
“The group of players are doing their very best and we know that we have to perform on the pitch”
Meanwhile, there are still question marks of Fernando Torres’ form, with the Spain striker failing to find consistency in front of goal since joining from Liverpool in a £50m deal in 2011.
But Benítez is sure that the 28-year-old will soon be back to his best, especially following the arrival of Demba Ba this month.
“I think that he was doing well when we just arrived, you could see that he was improving,” Benítez said of Torres.
“We signed Demba Ba because we wanted two options so we could rest Torres. In the long term it will be much better. I’m sure that Fernando will go back to his level.
“They [the fans] know that he’s a top striker. If he starts scoring goals again they will be delighted.”
