Rafael Benítez aims to give Fernando Torres a confidence boost
Chelsea boss Rafael Benítez admits Fernando Torres must rediscover some of his lost confidence if he is to improve his form

Rafael Benítez admits Fernando Torres needs to rediscover some of his lost confidence if he is to emulate his prolific Liverpool days at Chelsea.
Torres sparkled under the Spaniard during his spell on Merseyside and developed a reputation as one of Europe’s best forwards but has struggled to find any sort of consistent form since swapping Anfield for Stamford Bridge in January 2011.
Benítez is hopeful the 28-year-old, who has netted seven goals for the Blues so far this term, forward can rediscover his goal-scoring touch this season but says he must be helped by his team-mates.
“I’ll try to give him some confidence, see what he can do in a different way and improve him – along with the rest of the team – physically,” said Benítez.
“If you are strong in defence, you can regain the ball easier, you will have more chances as you will have more possession, so that’s the idea. We will try to improve the shape of the team but keep their quality and mobility.
“He’s not exactly the same now because as he was at the maximum level at that time [at Liverpool]. He can come back and improve but the team has to help him.”
