Aaron Ramsey will miss Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa on Monday night as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The Wales international, who has been one of the Gunners’ standout performers this season, has not featured since picking up the problem in the 3-1 win at West Ham on Boxing Day.
Wenger also confirmed that left-back Kieran Gibbs has a small chance of featuring at Villa Park following his calf strain.

“Aaron Ramsey will not make Aston Villa,” said Wenger. “Kieran Gibbs has a little chance to be back.”
Striker Olivier Giroud is likely to return after the France international missed Arsenal’s last two games due to a combination of illness and an ankle problem.
“Giroud needed a rest physically and I’m convinced he will come back refreshed and score again,” added Wenger.
The north Londoners have also been boosted by the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is fit and available for selection after coming through an Under-21 game against Fulham on Thursday night.
The England international has not featured for Arsenal since picking up a knee injury in the opening-day defeat by Aston Villa at The Emirates.
“What is most important is that he played last night and did well,” said Wenger of Oxlade-Chamberlain. “I wouldn’t have any hesitation on playing him against Aston Villa.”
