Chelsea returned to winning ways at Stamford Bridge after goals from Juan Mata and Frank Lampard helped the Blues to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.

The Gunners were much-improved in the second half, and Theo Walcott halved the deficit in the 58th minute but Arsene Wenger’s side were unable to conjure up a late equaliser.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals past and present, in chronological order.

Reading striker Jason Roberts ‏(@JasonRoberts30) is looking forward to Sunday’s games: “Chelsea v Arsenal…….Spurs v Man United….Sundays don’t get much better than that…..”

Former Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit (‏@GullitR) is also impressed by the forward’s finish: “Game on. Arsenal scored a great goal. The game gets better. Hope that #chelsea still wins!”

Stoke striker Michael Owen ‏(@themichaelowen) can’t understand why there’s so much criticism for Arsenal on Twitter: “Just got in and switched the TV on. Seem to be a lot of unhappy Gunners on here. Presume they were poor 1st half? They look pretty good now!”
