Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes that Manchester United will sit and wait for the Spanish club to match their valuation of Paul Pogba this summer.

The 26-year-old’s future at Old Trafford has been something of a source of speculation in recent weeks following a disappointing campaign for the Red Devils as they ended up without a trophy.

Pogba has been touted as a possible target for Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane looks to rebuild his team ahead of next season.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will make a concrete offer to try and sign the World Cup winner this summer.

However, former Real Madrid chief Calderon feels that Manchester United are under no pressure to make the first move in the possible transfer switch.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, Calderon said: “It’s not easy.

“A player like that, Manchester United are not going to [let him] go without a lot of money.

“I know they have been talking about €170m.

“It’s an opportunity but Manchester United have to wait because the player has a contract until 2021.

“Knowing he is an important player who is young, and knowing that Zidane is continually asking for him, they can wait in the office for a lot of money in a suitcase.

“That’s if they want to sell him, and also the player has the last word. I don’t know if he wants to leave.”

Manchester United themselves are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

They have already brought in midfielder Daniel James from Swansea City as their first recruit of the summer window.

Manchester United finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
