Reporter confirms Atletico Madrid want to sign Chelsea FC striker
Atletico Madrid want to sign France striker Olivier Giroud from Chelsea FC this summer, according to a report

Atletico Madrid have submitted an enquiry for Chelsea FC striker Olivier Giroud, Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge.
The France international moved to Chelsea FC in a reported £21m deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window to ease the workload on Alvaro Morata.
Giroud proved a hit with the west London side and the 31-year-old managed to secure a first-team place ahead of the club record signing.
The versatile striker scored in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final before Eden Hazard netted a winner in a 1-0 victory against Manchester United in the Wembley showpiece.
Giroud finished the 2017-18 season with five goals in 18 appearances for the west London side to earn a place in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad.
The former Montpellier striker played a key role in France’s World Cup triumph following a 4-2 victory over Croatia in the final earlier this month.
Sky Sports News reporter Bridge has confirmed that Atletico are interested in a deal to sign Giroud before the summer transfer window closes.
“It is really out of the blue,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Atletico have made an enquiry. It depends on Chelsea’s pursuit of Higuain. If Giroud goes, Chelsea would hope to do a permanent deal.”
Giroud has won the FA Cup four times since his move to Arsenal from Montpellier in the 2011 summer transfer window.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term.
