Reporter reveals why Chelsea missed out on signing key 24-year-old striker
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol reveals that Chelsea were unwilling to meet the demands of Romelu Lukaku's agent

Chelsea missed out on signing Romelu Lukaku because the Premier League champions were unwilling to meet his agent’s demands, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports News reporter has taken to Twitter to shed light on why Lukaku completed a move to Manchester United despite being heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window so far.
Indeed, the Premier League holders appeared poised to re-sign the 24-year-old with Manchester United looking at other targets before the situation changed last week and the Red Devils showed more decisiveness than Chelsea.
The 20-time English champions will cough up a £75m fee up front plus add-ons including Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, while Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola will also get a lucrative pay day.
And Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has revealed that Chelsea were unwilling to meet Raiola’s demands which handed Manchester United the incentive in the race to sign Lukaku.
Solhekol tweeted: “Chelsea were willing to pay Everton and Lukaku exactly what Man United are paying. Just weren’t willing to pay Mino Raiola as much”
Lukaku scored 25 goals in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish behind Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the race to win the golden boot.
