Richard Keys has told Manchester United fans to forget about re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports on Friday suggested that Ronaldo is ready to call time on his glittering Real Madrid career after winning his third Champions League crown with the Spanish giants earlier this month.

BBC Sport is claiming that the Portugal captain wants to leave Real Madrid after being “upset” at being accused of defrauding the authorities of millions of euros in tax.

Ronaldo has denied the claims but Real Madrid’s record goal-scorer is thought to be ready to embrace a new challenge in what has been a brilliant club career.

The 32-year-old moved to Real Madrid in an £80m deal from Manchester United in the 2009 summer transfer window after helping the Red Devils to win three successive Premier League titles.

Ronaldo won the 2008 Champions League crown despite missing a penalty in their shootout victory over bitter rivals Chelsea in the final in Moscow.

Former Sky Sports host Keys doesn’t expect Manchester United to re-sign Ronaldo despite excitement amongst the clubs fans at a potential reunion with one of their greatest players.

Keys wrote on Twitter: “Utd fans shouldn’t get too excited should Ronaldo leave Real. He doesn’t get on with Mourinho. His destination is likely to be elsewhere.”

Manchester United secured a return to the Champions League last month thanks to a 2-0 win against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final.
