Rob Jones: Daniel Sturridge can set Liverpool alight next season
Former Liverpool defender Rob Jones expects Daniel Sturridge to stay positive ahead of his long-awaited return

Daniel Sturridge can set Liverpool alight when the striker returns from his latest injury, according to former Reds defender Rob Jones.
The England international has been undergoing rehabilitation in United States following an operation on a troublesome hip in May.
It is the family and players around you that keep you going. He’ll be looking to keep the positives

The 25-year-old scored just four goals in 12 Premier League games last season after the forward was hampered by a string of hip and thigh problems.
Jones, who won the FA Cup with the Reds in 1992, believes Sturridge will be like a new signing for the Merseyside outfit when he returns next season.
“We want Sturridge back. We need him firing on all cylinders again,” Jones told The Sport Review.
“When he does come back, he’ll set Liverpool alight.”
Jones established himself as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back under Graeme Souness and Roy Evans before a persistent knee injury curtailed the England international’s career.
So the 43-year-old can relate to Sturridge’s current injury woes, adding that the former Chelsea striker’s family and friends will be key during his spell on the sidelines.
“It is difficult. When he got himself half back fit but then it was a complete knock down again and back to square one. I’ve been through that,” Jones added.
“He has good family around him and it is the family and players around you that keep you going. He’ll be looking to keep the positives.”
Sturridge has scored 35 goals in 55 Premier League games since his £12m move to Liverpool from Chelsea in January 2013.
