Robbie Savage: Chelsea star is the best in league
Robbie Savage says N'Golo Kante is the leading candidate to win the PFA player of the year award this season

Robbie Savage says N’Golo Kante must win the PFA player of the year award following his brilliant form for Chelsea this season.
The French midfielder has been in sublime form for the Blues this season since moving to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City last summer.
Kante earned plenty of new admirers for his brilliant form last season as he helped Leicester City win the title and has continued his fine displays for the Blues this term.
The midfielder is among the favourites to win the PFA player of the year award this season as Chelsea look on course to win the title this season.
And former midfielder Savage is certain that Kante is the right man to win the prestigious individual award.
Savage told The Mirror: “In an ideal world, you want a crowd-pleasing, free-scoring showman to be voted player of the year – someone like Zlatan Ibrahimovic – but it is only right that the award goes to someone who plays for the champions.
“It may be unfashionable to vote for Kante, but he must be doing something right if he wins the Premier League title in consecutive seasons with two different clubs.
“Kante’s performances speak for themselves. Yes, Hazard has scored 12 goals this season, and provided his fair share of assists on top, but where was he last season? Yes, it’s good to see him back on song, but he was woeful last season.
“Kante, on the other hand, has been not only the stand-out midfield player in the Premier League for the last two seasons, but also the best midfielder of his type in Europe.”
Chelsea return to action after the international break with a home clash against Crystal Palace as they bid to take a step closer towards winning the title.
