Man United make £70m bid for top 25-year-old midfielder – report
Manchester United have made a £70m bid to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to reports

Manchester United have tabled a £70m bid for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Mediaset Premium, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils have tabled an official offer for the Colombia international as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The same story claims that Manchester United have tried to steal a march on their rivals by tabling a bid more than Real Madrid’s asking price, which is believed to be around £66m.
Rodriguez has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer following his lack of playing time at the Spanish club last season.
Indeed, the 25-year-old midfielder did not even make the bench for Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Juventus in Cardiff earlier this month.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to the reports in Italy claiming that Manchester United have made their interest in Rodriguez official, but it is a proposed transfer that is sure to excite Red Devils fans.
The report came in the same week in which Real Madrid president Florentino Perez suggested that the Spanish club are under no pressure to sell the midfielder this summer.
