Manchester United are monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Real Madrid and could try and bring him back to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Guardian is reporting that Ronaldo is “outraged” at the way he has been treated by Spanish tax authorities and is now determined to leave the country.

Ronaldo has been accused of defrauding the authorities of €14.7m, which he denies, and the 32-year-old is now said to want to leave The Bernabeu.

The report claims that Manchester United remain as one of the few clubs with the financial muscle to be able to sign Ronaldo should he indeed leave Real Madrid this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are touted as another possible destination in the article.

The same story reports that the Red Devils would be able to match Ronaldo’s wage demands of around £400,000 a week.

It would be something of a dream signing for Manchester United fans, who saw their star player leave the club to join Real Madrid back in 2009.

However, it remains to be seen whether talk of Ronaldo returning to Manchester United is anything more than speculation at this stage.
