Ryan Giggs admits that he cannot wait to start working as Louis van Gaal’s assistant manager at Manchester United next season.
The 40-year-old took temporary charge of the Red Devils following David Moyes’s sacking in April, leading United to two victories in four Premier League games.
Van Gaal is one of Europe’s most-decorated managers after winning top-flight titles in Holland, Germany and Spain, as well as lifting the Champions League with Ajax.

And Giggs, who is still completing his coaching badges, is hoping to learn from the 62-year-old – as he did working under Britain’s most-successful manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
“Louis knows what he wants and he’s got that tough side but, obviously, he’s got a softer side as well,” said Giggs.
“I went together with Ed Woodward. We flew over and met Louis and he’s a nice guy. He’s got plenty of charisma and it was a good meeting.
“[I want to learn] as much as I can really, because he’s won so much. I’m starting all over again and I recognised that.
“I think he’s got a good philosophy of an attacking style of play and bringing young players through, which are the things that United are all about.”
