Ryan Giggs is desperate for Manchester United to bounce back from their shock defeat by West Bromwich Albion last weekend with victory over Sunderland.

The Red Devils stumbled to their third Premier League loss of the season as they were beaten 2-1 by the Baggies at Old Trafford last Saturday.

David Moyes’ men travel to the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon looking to secure just their third Premier League win of the season.

And speaking after United’s 1-1 Champions League draw at Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, the veteran midfielder is expecting a response against the manager-less Black Cats.

“We didn’t play well at the weekend,” said Giggs.

“We tried to make ourselves difficult to beat tonight [against Shakhtar] and we did that against a very good team. Hopefully we can build a bit of momentum going into the weekend.

“We want to get a run together and hopefully it’ll start at the weekend.

“It won’t be easy, they’ve just got a new caretaker manager, they’ll be up for it and, like any game in the Premier League, it’ll be tough.”
