Ryan Giggs insists he has enjoyed his experience as Manchester United’s interim manager ahead of their trip to Southampton.

The 40-year-old’s short United reign is expected to be brought to an end following the St Mary’s clash, with Louis van Gaal the overwhelming favourite to succeed Giggs.

I have enjoyed the whole experience and it has definitely helped me prepare for what will come after my playing career

Giggs has a 66 per cent win-rate in charge of the Red Devils, and the former Wales international revealed the range of emotions that he has experienced in recent weeks.

“It sort of goes in waves where one minute you are enjoying it and one minute you are not,” Giggs said.

“But ultimately it gives you a lot of satisfaction when everything goes right.

“After the game last Saturday (against Sunderland) you probably think you could do without it, but you probably learn more from defeat and not doing so well just like when you are a player.

“I have enjoyed the whole experience and it has definitely helped me prepare for what will come after my playing career.”

Giggs added that he doesn’t feel under any pressure, although United can still qualify for the Europa League.

“There is not really a lot of pressure on me at the moment because we can’t win anything,” Giggs added. “However, we can qualify for the Europa League and we will carry on trying to do that.”
