Aguero, Kompany & more: Twitter reacts as Arsenal & Man City see red
Sergio Aguero, Javi Garcia and Vincent Kompany all tweet their thoughts after Manchester City edged to a victory at Arsenal

James Milner and Edin Dzeko both netted to fire Manchester City to a comfortable 2-0 victory over 10-man Arsenal in controversial circumstances at The Emirates.
Referee Mike Dean dismissed Laurent Koscielny and awarded City a penalty after the Arsenal defender fouled Dzeko, who missed the subsequent spot-kick, before Vincent Kompany also received his marching orders for a two-footed tackle late in the second half.
Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, with plenty of debate over the red cards.
Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (@morriskid) reckons that’s it for Arsenal after Koscielny’s sending off: “Game over for me!”
West Brom midfielder Steven Reid (@stevenreid12) backs Dean’s award but not the punishment: “Good decision on the penalty… Red card harsh!!”
Republic of Ireland striker Simon Cox (@Scoxy31) thinks the referee got the decision spot on: “Definitely a penalty can’t hold like that in the penalty area. Good decision.”
Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler (@Robbie9Fowler) can’t see why there is a fuss: “Surely no complaints about that red card….. Blatant!”
England legend Peter Reid (@reid6peter) agrees: “Correct decision Mr Dean.”
Reading striker Jason Roberts (@JasonRoberts30) gives his thoughts: “Penalty….yes….sending off…maybe…if we want to get rid of pulling and shoving in the box then, that will do it..but must be consistent!”
QPR striker Jay Bothroyd (@jaybothroyd) is a self-confessed Gunners fan and agrees with the decision: “I’m a supporter of Arsenal but the ref got every decision right !!”
Meanwhile, Ireland midfielder Matt Holland (@mattholland8) reckons Dzeko is having a nightmare: “Dzeko is having a Walters…. Haha #goingtoscoreanowngoalsoon ..Dzeko is back – and was only a bit of fun Re Walters. No-one works harder – he just had one of those days!!”
England striker Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) is impressed by Milner’s goal: “Superb finish from Milner!”
Reading striker Noel Hunt (@boyhunt) asks if Milner could have struck that finish any better: “I think Milner should of bit that ball a little harder!!”
Former Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba (@fmuamba) reckons that the game is definitely finished: “Game over.”
Everton captain Phil Neville (@fizzer18) feels Kompany’s sending off is harsh: “I thought he was definitely going for the ball feet slightly off the ground but not nasty for me!”
Newcastle defender Warren Barton (@warrenbarton2) is in agreement: “No red card…”
Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann (@DietmarHamann) believes the Gunners could struggle to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League: “Arsenal got to improve dramatically to even get close to Bayern Munich …City in recent weeks back to their title winning form!”
City midfielder Javi Garcia (@javigarcia06) praises his team-mates: “Good job today team! Three very important points against #Arsenal in a beautiful stadium! This is the way! Thanks for the messages my friends!”
Citizens defender Joleon Lescott (@JoleonLescott) is delighted – to be trending on Twitter: “Great to get three points today but more buzzing about being trending. Haha, only joking, at least the fans got their money’s worth.”
Injured City striker Sergio Aguero (@aguerosergiokun) enjoyed watching the win: “I really enjoyed to see my mates playing, although I always suffer a little when I watch the match from outside. Great victory! C’mon City!!”
Citizens captain Vincent Kompany (@VincentKompany) defends his tackle on Jack Wilshere: “Ultimately I’m a defender: Appeal may work or not. I will never pull out of a challenge, as much as I will never intend to injury a player.”
And on Kompany’s red card, Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) adds: “When Bobby Moore made the identical tackle on Pele in 1970 WC, Pele said it was his greatest tackle!”
