Singapore Grand Prix 2012: Felipe Massa uncertain over Ferrari future

Felipe Massa admits he is keen to learn whether he will be staying at Ferrari next season or not – but insists he will not let his uncertain future affect his performances.

The Brazilian is currently 10th in the drivers’ standings after recovering a poor start to the season which saw him collect only two points from the first five grands prix.

The 31-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of season and there has been no indication from Ferrari over whether he will be offered a new deal.

But Massa insists he has no problems putting his future to one side and focusing on delivering results as the current campaign reaches its climax.

“There is no news on my future at the moment, but there’s no doubt that good results will help,” Massa said ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

“I just need to keep pushing hard and getting good results, in the hope of hearing some good news soon.

“It’s always better to know what the situation is, as of course I want to know what I’m doing next year. But I can tell you that it’s never happened that I’m in the car in the middle of the race and I start thinking about what I’ll do next year.

“However, I know that results are what matter, so if the situation arises where you have to take a risk in the race, then you have to think carefully about it, as you know your priority is to finish the race.”
