Danny Care has warned England that Italy’s forwards will still pose a serious threat despite the absence of captain Sergio Parisse for the Twickenham clash next Sunday.

England and Italy have met 18 times – 13 times in the Six Nations – and the Red Rose have prevailed in each, edging home 19-15 in Rome last year but romping to a 59-13 win at Twickenham in 2011.

Victory for England would take them a step closer to the Grand Slam and set up a potential Six Nations championship decider with Wales in Cardiff, and on the back of impressive wins over Scotland, Ireland and France, the hosts will be hot favourites to make it four from four next Sunday.

Italy, on the other hand, have followed up their impressive opening win over France with defeats by Scotland and Wales, and currently sit fifth in the Championship.

But Care is expecting a physical battle when the Azzurri come to Twickenham, adding he’s refusing to contemplate England’s potential showdown with Wales just yet.

“We know it’s going to be physical, their forwards have stepped up massively of late and they are a match for anyone in that area,” said Care.

“They are a brutal, physical side and we are expecting a very tough match, we’re not even thinking about the Wales game yet because we know about the challenge we have before that.”
