Six Nations 2015: Paul O’Connell named player of the championship
Munster lock walks away with prestigious award less than a week after leading Ireland to title defence at BT Murrayfield
Paul O’Connell has been named as the RBS 6 Nations player of the championship after a public vote.
The Ireland captain, who won his 100th cap against Wales earlier this month, succeeds England full-back Mike Brown after he received 18,842 votes (26.73 per cent), seeing off a challenge from Ospreys and Wales lock Alun Wyn Jones, who received 13,645 (19.36 per cent).
When you see the names that have gone before, you realise what a great honour it is. I’m very grateful for all the supporters who voted for me.
