Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Southampton v Arsenal
The Liverpool legend is tipping Arsenal and Southampton to play out a 1-1 draw at St Mary's on Sunday afternoon

Mark Lawrenson believes Arsenal will extend their winless run to two games with a 1-1 draw at Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners lost at the Emirates Stadium for the first time in 13 games last weekend following a 3-1 loss to title rivals Manchester United in front of their home supporters.
Arsenal’s disappointing loss to Jose Mourinho’s men ended a run of three consecutive Premier League victories and relegated the Gunners to fifth place in the table.
The Saints were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last week following Raheem Sterling’s last-gasp winner for the leaders.
Southampton came from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw with their south coast derby rivals Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last weekend to pick up a valuable point.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is tipping Arsenal to drop more points in the top-four race in a 1-1 stalemate with Mauricio Pellegrino’s Saints side in Sunday’s early kick-off.
“Southampton came back to get a point against Bournemouth last week and I am going to go for another draw here,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I don’t think Saints will test Arsenal’s defence in the same way United did, but they won’t give too much away at the back either.”
Arsenal were 6-0 winners against BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday night to warm up for their trip to the south coast this weekend.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League last term but won the FA Cup for the third time in four seasons.
