Stoke 1 Everton 1: Leighton Baines wants the Toffees to finish the festive period in a "healthy position" at the Potters
Leighton Baines urged Everton to finish the festive period in a “healthy position” after the left-back scored a late penalty to seal a point at Stoke City.
The Potters appeared to be heading towards a 1-0 victory after Oussama Assaidi scored his third Premier League goal of the season in the 49th minute.

However Jermaine Pennant’s foul on Leon Osman handed Everton a stoppage time penalty and England international Baines slotted his spot-kick past Jack Butland.
Everton drop to fifth after Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Hull City at Anfield, but Baines still feels the Toffees are in good shape at the start of the new year.
“We deserved at least a point,” Baines told BBC Sport.
“It’s always difficult when you come here – the wind was swirling and that made it tough but it’s the same for everyone.”
He added: “You always want to take maximum points but we’ve got a couple of games coming up which we want to win so we end up coming away from this Christmas period in a healthy position.”
