Swansea 1 Arsenal 2: Aaron Ramsey backs Gunners title bid
Swansea 1 Arsenal 2: Aaron Ramsey believes the Gunners are capable of challenging for the Premier League title
Aaron Ramsey backed Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title after the Welshman helped the Gunners to victory at Swansea City.
After a tight first half at the Liberty Stadium, Arsenal finally made the breakthrough after a superb team move was finished off by German youngster Serge Gnabry.
With Arsenal on top, Ramsey scored his eighth goal of the season as the Welshman timed his run into the Swansea area to perfection before Ben Davies scored a late consolation for the home side.
“Yes, that’s our target [Premier League title],” Ramsey told Sky Sports. “We have a lot of quality in the team.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries recently but we’ve managed to dig in and put a run of wins together.
“Hopefully now we can get players back and stay fit – we’ll be in with a shout.”
Ramsey added he is feeling really confident after the 22-year-old’s excellent start to the season following a difficult couple of years at The Emirates.
“I’ve always dug in. I’ve had a bit of stick over the past season. But I was playing all over the place and I am a central midfielder,” added Ramsey.
“I’ve worked hard and I’m the type who never gives up. I felt towards the end of last season, I was definitely improving.
“Now I’m in the new campaign and I’m feeling really confident.
“I don’t think a lot has changed. I’m in a position now where I’ve played for a lot of games and my qualities are starting to come through.”
