Michel Vorm Moulded the course of the game by saving his team from going 1-0 down with a miraculous save from Remy’s early header. Comfortably collected any ball that came his way after that. 8/10

Dwight Tiendalli Displayed his commanding aerial presence, clearing most of the crosses that came his way. 7

Chico Flores Gave a solid performance. His first-half shot from outside the box looked promising as it swerved through the penalty area, but was read well by Krul. 6

Ashley Williams The captain was a commanding presence and when Newcastle were pushing for an equaliser, he made a brave clearance to prevent Ameobi from going through on goal. 7

Ben Davies The Welshman diluted as much of Ameobi’s chances as he could. Made a few runs down the wing to worry Newcastle. 7

Jonathan de Guzman Broke from midfield countless times in the first half, but there was often left crossing into an empty penalty area before the goal came. 6

Jose Canas Protected his back four brilliantly in the second half when Newcastle were pressing for an equaliser, not letting much pass him. 7

Alejandro Pozuelo Came off in the second half, but was a real threat throughout the match as his sharp movement kept Swansea in possession for most of the game. 7

Jonjo Shelvey (Man of the match) Orchestrated all of Swansea’s passing movement from central midfield. Was a constant danger with long range shooting too, and was rewarded for his efforts when he forced a Debuchy own goal and later claimed his own goal from a 25-yard strike to make it 3-0. 9

Pablo Hernandez Put constant pressure on Newcastle for the entire match and created problems on the left wing. 7

Alvaro Vazquez Swansea’s only fit and recognised striker went off injured in the 28th minute which will be a real worry to Michael Laudrup. Put his only chance wide from a tight angle. 5

Substitutes

Nathan Dyer Made a real impact after coming on early in the first half for Alvaro, and was a constant nuisance to the Newcastle defense. Put his side ahead with a close-range volley in the first half. 8

Wayne Routledge Forced a corner in the 88th minute, but was not on long enough to contribute to his side’s win. 5

Tim Krul There was nothing he could do about any of the three goals and was unlucky to have been left vulnerable by his back four. 5

Mathieu Debuchy Will face a suspension after receiving his sixth yellow card of the season for a rash challenge on Hernandez. However, was unlucky to concede an own goal as was strong in defence throughout the match. 6

Mike Williamson Made a few key interceptions in the first half, but was not able to stop Swansea on the counter for the rest of the game. 5

Fabricio Coloccini The captain was alert to danger in the first half, but brought Dyer down in frustration for a free kick on the edge of the box. Could do nothing to stop the constant Swansea threat. 5

Davide Santon Was on the back post when Dyer claimed Swansea’s first goal, but could do little about the powerful volley going through his legs. He later attempted from long distance but ended up wasting the vital attacking possession as it was not powerful enough to threaten Vorm. 4

Moussa Sissoko Offered nothing in midfield. Was unable to feed possession to his forwards, and the three goals would suggest he was not apt at protecting his back four either. 4

Cheick Tiote Sliced his only real chance of the game high over the cross bar while his team needed an equaliser coming up to half-time. 5

Yohan Cabaye Worked tirelessly to chase for a result; curling crosses into the penalty area that were swallowed by the Swansea defence. Blasted his only strike way over the cross bar. 7

Yoan Gouffran Released Ameobi twice into dangerous territory, but seemed to be more determined in protesting two penalty shouts then offering any other attacking threat to his team. 6

Shola Ameobi Was Newcastle’s only threat in the game, and was consistently let down by his team-mates whenever he created any chances. Won possession that he was not entitled to and was a real threat to Swansea throughout. 7

Loic Remy Could have opened the scoring when he beat Chico to claim a magnificent header across goal, but was stopped by Vorm. Apart from a few flashes of genius that were dealt with, was anonymous for the game and did not create any chances for himself. 6

Substitutes

Massadio Haidara Blocked a fabulous ball from Hernandez to prevent his side from going three goals down, but the damage was already done. Was booked late on for a foul on Dyer. 5
