Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Swansea v Man United
The former Liverpool legend is backing Manchester United to ease to a comfortable victory over Swansea City on Saturday evening
Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to ease to a 2-0 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford last weekend.
Summer signing Romelu Lukaku broke the deadlock in the first half with a close-range finish before the Belgium international doubled the home side’s lead after half-time.
Manchester United extended their lead in the final five minutes thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba to wrap up three points.
Swansea City, on the other hand, played out a frustrating goalless draw with Southampton at St Mary’s last weekend.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident Manchester United will ease to a comfortable win against Swansea in Wales on Saturday afternoon.
“Swansea got themselves a good point at Southampton on the opening weekend, and it felt like that was what they went to St Mary’s Stadium for,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I thought Manchester United played well in their 4-0 win over West Ham but the Hammers were poor – after United scored their first goal, it was a little bit too easy for them.
“There are much harder tests to come for Jose Mourinho’s side, but I think they will get another win in Wales without too many problems.”
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Everton forward Lukaku in the summer transfer window so far.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season after a mixed first season under the management of Jose Mourinho.
The 20-time English champions got their hands on the EFL Cup and the Europa League in their first campaign with Mourinho at the helm.
