Theo Walcott has declared his belief that Arsenal can compete for the Premier League title next season.

The north Londoners pipped Tottenham Hotspur to fourth place in the league last weekend to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League ahead of their local rivals.

Arsene Wenger’s men have failed to mount a credible title challenge in recent campaigns and finished 16 points behind champions Manchester United this term.

But after helping the Gunners win eight of their last 10 top-flight games, Walcott is confident Arsenal will challenge for the title next season.

“I think this Arsenal team can achieve anything,” Walcott told the Sun. “We should be competing for the Premier League every year, that’s our first priority.

“In every competition we can go far, as long as we believe we can. We need to realise how good we really are because, at times, we don’t think that.

“When we go a goal down you do see the players stepping up. And if we do that from the start we can beat anyone.”

The 24-year-old Walcott scored 21 goals and made 17 assists for Arsenal in 2012-13.
