Too many maggots! Joey Barton says QPR ‘deserve’ to be relegated
Marseille midfielder Joey Barton says Queens Park Rangers deserve to be relegated, slamming the "maggots" in the Hoops squad

Joey Barton says Queens Park Rangers deserve to be relegated from the Premier League, criticising Mark Hughes’s summer signings at Loftus Road.
The Hoops dropped back down to the Championship after a two-year spell in the English top flight following a goalless draw with Reading, who have also been demoted to the second tier.
Hughes, who was replaced by Harry Redknapp in November, signed big names such as Esteban Granero, Park Ji-Sung, Jose Bosingwa and Júlio Cesar last summer.
The Welshman’s signings proved a failure, and Barton, who was sent out on a season-long loan to Marseille, criticised the attitude of some of the Hoops squad.
“I can’t believe QPR have just been relegated and Boswinga was walking down the tunnel laughing! Embarrassing. Show some guts man,” Barton tweeted.
“Gutted for the club. Too many w*****s amongst the playing staff. All brought in by Hughes. Some good lads but not enough. Too many maggots.
“Hope they can get a load out, if not they’ll end up in a Wolves situation because trust me that Championship is a f*cking hard league!
“League table doesn’t lie. Both sides haven’t won enough games to deserve to stay up. Reading in a better position than QPR though…”
