Hugo Lloris Unfortunate to be on the end of a remarkable finish from Rosicky and made a fine save to deny Mertesacker from doubling Arsenal’s lead. 6/10

Kyle Naughton Like Rose, imposed himself in both attack and defence and can be pleased with his performance. 6

Younes Kaboul Looked out of place as Arsenal’s pressure mounted but performed better after the break. 5

Jan Vertonghen Looked calm at the back and did what was asked of him. Coped well with the pace of the Gunners’ counter-attacking play. 6

Danny Rose Took a while to get into the match but performed well and got up the field well as his side searched for an equaliser. 6

Andros Townsend Impressed all game but could find the killer ball after bursting into the Arsenal box a number of times. 6

Nabil Bentaleb Went missing at times but made some neat passes in key areas deep in the opponents half. 5

Sandro Not as dominant as usual in the middle but made still made it difficult for Arsene Wenger’s men on a testing day for Spurs. 5

Nacer Chadli Unlucky not to score after Koscielny’s last-ditch defending and again showed that he is adjusting well to Premier League life. 6

Christian Eriksen Had a couple of nifty touches but failed to display his spark when in possession and was replaced by Tim Sherwood. 4

Emmanuel Adebayor Inches away from levelling the match but should have done better with his header which was begging to be finished. 5

Substitutes

Gylfi Sigurdsson Failed to impose himself on the match after coming on. 5

Soldado Did not see much of the ball. 5

Paulinho Difficult for the Brazilian to make an impact as Arsenal tightened things up to close out the match. 5

Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny Shaky start to the second half and was lucky not to have cost his side a goal but looked in control thereafter. 5

Bacary Sagna Energetic as always, held his own in defence and bombed up the flank to aid his side in attack. 5

Per Mertesacker Another impressive performance from the German, who more than played his part in keeping Spurs at bay. 6

Laurent Koscielny (man of the match) Remarkable piece of defending just after the break to deny Chadli from slotting into an empty net to underline his brilliant performance. 8

Kieran Gibbs Started slow but improved as the game wore on and read the game well. 6

Mikel Arteta Looked calm on the ball and did his best to make things happen. 6

Santi Cazorla Wasted the ball several times early on but composed himself and looked a threat in parts. 5

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Showed glimpses of what he is about but should have doubled Arsenal’s lead, only to miss the target. 5

Tomas Rosicky Unbelievable strike for his goal and will almost certainly never hit a ball sweeter. Was replaced but more than played his part. 7

Lukas Podolski Had a chance to give Arsenal a 2-0 lead but always looked dangerous when on the ball in front of goal. 6

Olivier Giroud Fairly quiet performance from the Frenchman in which he did not receive much service. 5

Substitutes

Mathieu Flamini Brought on to tighten things up and did what was needed. 6

Nacho Monreal Did not have much to do but looked calm. 5
