Gary Neville reacts to Marcus Rashford’s goal in Man United’s 1-0 win at Tottenham
The Manchester United legend heaps praise on Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba after Sunday's 1-0 win at Tottenham
Gary Neville praised Paul Pogba’s role in Marcus Rashford’s winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils made the trip to the English capital looking to extend their winning run to five Premier League games after an impressive start under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Tottenham, on the other hand, were hoping to keep the pressure on Liverpool FC after the Premier League leaders moved nine points clear of Spurs thanks to a 1-0 win at Brighton on Saturday.
Manchester United broke the deadlock before half-time when Kieran Trippier’s pass was intercepted and the World Cup winner set Rashford free with a brilliant pass.
The England international managed to evade Tottenham’s retreating defence before Rashford placed a finish past Hugo Lloris to score the game’s decisive strike in the 44th minute.
The 21-year-old has now scored four goals and made one assist in five Premier League games since Solskjaer took over the reins at Manchester United.
While Neville was impressed with Rashford’s finish, the former Manchester United defender praised Pogba for his brilliant pass to release the striker.
“Absolutely devastating from Man United. Pogba’s pass is world class,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics have come alive and worked a treat. It’s whether Rashford can finish. This time he does. The pass from Pogba is wonderful.”
Manchester United moved level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal thanks Sunday’s 1-0 win against Tottenham after Unai Emery’s men lost 1-0 to West Ham earlier this weekend.
