Tottenham 1 Man City 5: Pellegrini gives latest update on Aguero injury
Tottenham 1 Man City 5: Manuel Pellegrini is left sweating on the fitness of Sergio Aguero after striker picks up hamstring strain
Manuel Pellegrini was left sweating on the fitness of star striker Sergio Aguero after Manchester City thrashed 10-man Tottenham to move to the top of the Premier League.
The Argentina international, who has just returned from a month on the sidelines, pulled up with an apparent hamstring problem after giving City the lead at White Hart Lane.
The red card was not the turning point of the game because we deserved more than one goal in the first 45 minutes

“We will see tomorrow with the doctor what happened with him, maybe he has a problem with his hamstring, we will see how serious it is,” said Pellegrini.
“It’s a pity and maybe it’s the consequence of playing 90 minutes the other day – maybe he was not fit to do it.
“Sergio is a top player but we don’t depend on just one man, so we hope it’s the moment where Stevan Jovetic can play and hope that Sergio can join us again as soon as possible.”
Pellegrini’s men ran riot after the break in north London as Yaya Toure put them 2-0 up from the spot after a controversial penalty incident in which Danny Rose was sent off despite appearing to get a touch on the ball when challenging Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko added a third before Etienne Capoue pulled one back for Spurs. Substitute Stevan Jovetic then netted his first league goal since his summer move from Fiorentina, and Vincent Kompany added gloss to the scoreline with a simple finish late on.
“I think in the first half we played fantastic football,” continued Pellegrini, whose side are now a point clear of second-placed Arsenal.
“We scored just one goal but we had at least three or four clear chances to score. And we also defended very well.
“The red card was not the turning point of the game because we deserved more than one goal in the first 45 minutes.
“Of course playing with one player less is more difficult for Tottenham but I don’t think that the game changed in that moment.
“We were the team that had all the chances, all the possession. We scored five goals and we missed at least five or six more.”
