Jermaine Jenas slams ’embarrassing’ Man United after 2-0 loss at Tottenham
Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas criticises Manchester United for a poor performance in a 2-0 loss at Tottenham
Jermaine Jenas described Manchester United’s performance at Wembley as “embarrassing” after Tottenham Hotspur eased to a comfortable 2-0 win.
The Red Devils made the trip to the English capital following a 4-0 win over League Two side Yeovil Town in the FA Cup third round on Friday night.
Manchester United were unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and were 1-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford back in October.
However, the north London side broke the deadlock inside 11 seconds when Christian Eriksen finished past David De Gea to score the second-quickest goal in Premier League history.
Manchester United’s misery was further compounded when Phil Jones scored an own goal before half-time to leave the visitors contemplating a fourth league defeat of the season.
The Red Devils offered very little going forward despite January signing Alexis Sanchez starting his first Premier League game for his new club.
Marouane Fellaini came off the bench at half-time but the Belgian midfielder was replaced a mere seven minutes later.
Former Spurs midfielder Jenas delivered his withering verdict on Manchester United’s performance at Wembley.
Tottenham are in fifth place in the Premier League table but only two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
