Piers Morgan joked that “The Apocalypse” had arrived after Tottenham Hotspur were emphatic 3-1 winners against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side didn’t dwell on the disappointment of a 1-0 loss to Manchester United last weekend as the north London side produced the best performance of any Premier League club in the Champions League this season.

England international Dele Alli broke the deadlock as he poked the ball over the line following great work from Harry Winks and Kieran Trippier to unlock the Real Madrid defence.

Tottenham extended their lead in the second half courtesy of Alli’s deflected strike to put the hosts in charge at the home of English football with 34 minutes to go.

Spurs wrapped up three points with 24 minutes remaining after Harry Kane teed up Christian Eriksen and the Danish playmaker slotted a finish into the Real Madrid net.

And outspoken Gunners fan Morgan was predictably downbeat about watching Arsenal’s bitter rivals ease to a resounding victory.

Morgan wrote on Twitter: “Spurs destroying Real Madrid at Wembley.
The Apocalypse is upon us. ”

Tottenham have already beaten Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund at Wembley this season before a 3-0 victory over Cypriot club Apoel Nicosia.

Spurs are sitting at the top of their group with 10 points following three victories and one stalemate.
