Jermaine Jenas reacts to Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Ajax
Ajax claimed a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie

Jermaine Jenas believes that the only way is up for Tottenham after their 1-0 loss to Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.
Spurs were looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their loss to West Ham United in the Premier League at the weekend.
Ajax started the game brilliantly and dominated possession in the opening stages in north London.
The Amsterdam side took the lead in the 15th minute when Donny van de Beek finished from close range.
Tottenham improved after half-time but were unable to conjure an equaliser before the final whistle.
It leaves Spurs with an uphill task heading into the return leg in Amsterdam next Wednesday night.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Jenas said: “I don’t think they can play as badly as they did in that first half, personally.
“Yes, they sorted it out in the last five minutes of the first half, but before that, you didn’t know what kind of score it would be for Ajax.
“From Spurs’ point of view, they managed to steady the ship and find a way to play against this team.”
He added: “[The second half] was a better performance, they just looked very blunt at the top of the pitch. And that’s understandable without their key components in Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.”
Tottenham will now switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime as they look to take a step closer towards finishing in the top four.
