Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Tottenham v Arsenal
The former Liverpool legend is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a 2-0 win against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to secure a comfortable 2-0 win against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners were impressive 5-1 winners against Everton at The Emirates last weekend to secure a swift to return to winning ways.
Arsenal signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window to improve their attacking options.
The former Manchester United midfielder made three assists in the landslide win against the Toffees, while Aubameyang netted their fourth goal.
Tottenham have been on an excellent run of form following a 2-0 win against Manchester United before a 2-2 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield last weekend.
Spurs eased to a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the last-ever north London derby at White Hart Lane back in April courtesy of goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to pick up three points against Arsenal in the derby clash at Wembley.
“Arsenal have made some very good attacking signings with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan but they have not strengthened defensively,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Yes, the Gunners brushed Everton aside very easily last week, and they were great to watch.
“But Tottenham will be much tougher to break down and, at the same time, they can do some damage at the other end of the pitch too.
“I still think Arsenal can make a late run for the top four, but this is not a week where they close the gap.”
Kane has scored 22 goals in 24 games in the Premier League this season to head the division’s goal-scoring charts.
Tottenham are in fifth place and a point behind Chelsea FC, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
Arsenal are three points adrift of Spurs following a disappointing season so far.
