Harry Redknapp identifies Tottenham star ‘pivotal’ to Jose Mourinho
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp says Dele Alli is pivotal to Tottenham's silverware prospects this season
Harry Redknapp says Dele Alli will have a key role to play in Tottenham Hotspur’s bid to win silverware this season.
The England international has enjoyed a resurgence since Jose Mourinho was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement last month.
The Portuguese head coach appears to have brought out the best in the talented playmaker following his prolific form in front of goal.
Alli scored Tottenham’s equaliser at Old Trafford on Wednesday night before Marcus Rashford’s netted a second-half winner for Manchester United.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Burnley, the 23-year-old had scored four goals and has made one assist in his last four games in all competitions to hit the ground running under Mourinho.
Alli had only managed to score two goals in nine games before the former Manchester United manager took over the reins of the north London side.
Ex-Spurs boss Redknapp believes Alli has turned a corner at Tottenham following his return to form over the past few weeks.
“Dele Alli has suddenly sprung into life and is showing his England class, especially with a wonder strike at Old Trafford,” Redknapp told BetVictor.
“He will hope to catch the eye of Gareth Southgate and make the National team Euro 2020 squad and he is pivotal to the chances Tottenham have of securing silverware this season.
“I fully expect them to notch victory on their way to better things in 2020.”
Spurs have already booked their place in the Champions League knockout stage thanks to a 4-2 win over Greek side Olympiacos last time out.
They will take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night before a trip to Wolves next Sunday.
