Tottenham’s Michael Dawson wants to make amends for ‘devastating’ loss
Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Michael Dawson says he wants to make amends for their "devastating" loss to West Ham United

Michael Dawson admits Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to make amends for their “devastating” loss to West Ham United.
Spurs were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by their east London rivals as the Hammers sealed their first win at White Hart Lane in 14 years.
The 27-year-old has been forced to wait almost two weeks for an opportunity to put things right due to the recent World Cup qualifiers.
And the Tottenham captain is desperate to get back to winning ways against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.
“Football gives you such highs and lows,” Dawson told Spurs TV. “Certainly it leaves me low when you lose a football match and you go over it, and you have to wait two weeks until the next game.
“It’s a long two weeks. The first three days, when I wake up, I think ‘we lost that game’. You have days off and sometimes you think ‘I just want to get in and train’, and when you’re training and you’re in and around the lads of course it’s in the back of your mind.
“I remember every little thing, every little mistake. That’s just the way I am, I like to be perfect, but sometimes it just doesn’t go as well as you would have liked or as well as you dream about it being.
“We were disappointed with the performance against West Ham. It was never a 3-0 game, but that’s what it says on the scoresheet. From a defensive point of view, given how strong we’ve been, we got stretched and to concede three was a massive disappointment.
“I said after the game ‘I’ve never lost to West Ham at home [before]’ and then I look at the stats and it’s been 14 years [since that happened]. It’s devastating that that run had to come to an end, but it has and we’ve moved on.
“You get a chance to put things right in football. Unfortunately we have to wait two weeks to put it right but that’s life.
“We’ll be looking to win against Aston Villa when we can get back out there, and put things right from the West Ham game.”
