Roy Keane: Tottenham belong with the top teams in Europe
Manchester United legend Roy Keane hails Tottenham Hotspur as one of the best teams in Europe

Roy Keane has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur belong with the top teams in Europe following Tuesday night’s impressive 1-1 draw at Real Madrid.
Spurs are on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase following an impressive start to their European campaign.
Tottenham eased to a 3-1 win against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League fixture at Wembley thanks to Harry Kane’s double.
The England international scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus to put Tottenham level on points with the defending champions in Group H.
Tottenham made the trip to The Bernabeu on Tuesday night in search of a positive result in the Spanish capital and broke the deadlock thanks to Raphael Varane’s own goal.
Spurs were pegged back in the first half when Cristiano Ronaldo equalised from the penalty spot following Serge Aurier’s reckless challenge in the Real Madrid box.
Former Manchester United captain Keane talked up Tottenham’s ability to leave an impression on the Champions League this season.
“Spurs are rock solid,” Keane told ITV Sport.
“They are full of energy, brave with courage, they belong with top teams in Europe. The manager and players deserve credit. You looked at the group at the start and obviously you thought Dortmund would be difficult, but it looks like they get out of the group and will be a threat.
“They are short of one or two to go and win this trophy, but in the knock-out stages they have a great chance.”
Tottenham are in third place in the Premier League table and are five points behind current leaders Manchester City.
Spurs will welcome Liverpool to White Hart Lane in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
