Tottenham ready to swoop to sign Man United star – report
Tottenham are weighing up a summer transfer move to sign Chris Smalling from Manchester United, say reports

Tottenham are weighing up a bid to sign defender Chris Smalling from Manchester United this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the north London side are pondering a bid for the England centre-half after missing out on landing neew Leicester City signing Harry Maguire.
The same report claims that Smalling’s future at Old Trafford is in considerable doubt after Manchester United signed Victor Lindelof from Benfica last week.
It is reported that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add another centre-half to his squad to join Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen as he looks to try and steer Spurs to the title next season.
According to the same article, Smalling has been made “available” for transfer following Lindelof’s signing and Spurs midfielder Eric Dier could even be included as part of the deal to bring the defender to White Hart Lane.
The story also states that Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson and Michael Keane of Burnley are two other defenders on Tottenham’s radar this summer.
Tottenham will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League again next season after they finished second last term.
