Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says he is waiting on a €80m (£72m) bid from Tottenham Hotspur before selling midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Spurs have been linked with a move to sign the 22-year-old midfielder this summer, and Aulas has now confirmed that the Lilywhites have made a summer bid to try and bring him to London.
The Lyon chief has confirmed that the French club have already rejected a bid of €45m (£40m) from Spurs, who are thought to be keen to bolster their midfield options this summer.
Ndombele was in good form for Lyon last season as he scored one goal and made seven assists in 34 Ligue 1 games for the French side.
Now, Aulas has delivered an update about Ndombele’s future and explained the latest with regards to Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder.
Aulas told French radio station RMC, as quoted by the Daily Mail: “If I wait another eight days, it will be €80m.
“Tottenham made us an opening offer worth €45m. Then, we discussed more. Nothing is done, I can assure you. We are not in a hurry either.
“Tanguy has shown his qualities with the French national team. He is one of our best players. How much is he worth? I do not know, but not just €45m.”
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to add some quality to their squad this summer as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add to his squad and aims for his first trophy as manager of the club.
The Lilywhites almost won their first piece of silverware under the Argentine last season but the lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final at the start of the month.
